Exhaust Fan Install And Replacements

Bathroom exhaust fans are available in a wide variety of sizes and colors, but it’s important to base your decision on more than just the look when choosing one. Fans are rated in CFM’s, which stands for cubic feet of air moved per minute. What does this mean for bathrooms? Most common household half baths should be between 50-80 CFM, and a full bath should be between 80-150 CFM to remove moisture from the room effectively. Our team of electricians can help find the perfect bathroom or kitchen exhaust fan for your home, whether you’re replacing an older fan, building a new bathroom, or renovating an old one. We’ll properly wire your exhaust fan to a convenient switch and ensure it is appropriately vented outside your home.

Common Issues With Exhaust Fans

You may have moved into a home already equipped with exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathroom areas. The question is, how do you know if the fans are correctly installed and vented? If the exhaust fan, vent, or duct was not installed by knowledgeable and licensed electricians like our team, it might be facing some of the common issues we see with exhaust fans, such as:

  • Image
Exhaust fans venting into attics – This causes mold and mildew growth in attics, accelerates the deterioration of insulation, and shortens roof life.
  • Image
The wrong sized fan – As mentioned above, fans are rated for how much air they move per minute. If a small fan is installed in a larger bathroom, it won’t vent the room efficiently or thoroughly.

What Our Happy Customers Are Saying

Testimonials

The technician (Zack) was extremely thorough when diagnosing the electrical problem and recommending the best solution to fix it. He appeared very knowledgeable and helped explain the issue and solution so that we understood exactly what needed fixed. I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism.

Needed a next day "simple" outdoor fixture wired. Turned out to be not SO simple as load bearing beam blocked the preferred path. Zach adjusted on fly and job completed in time to mesh with other contractors working on project. Reasonable pricing for all needed materials and labor cost$ on 1Day turnaround. Fast scheduling response, great app and tech on backend.

I hired Chesapeake Electric to convert 7 recessed lights to LED and hang a new light fixture. Kevin was my technician. Someone else was with him but I’m sorry I don’t remember his name. Both were very well spoken, friendly and knowledgeable. Kevin explained the work that would be done and helped me decide on the color temperature and brightness of the LED lights. I was a little indecisive but Kevin was patient with me. Kevin did an inspection of my home and found that the service panel outside was badly damaged. He recommended that it be replaced and explained why. He came back the next day and repaired it and swapped out two breakers. Overall, I was very pleased with the work that was done. I especially appreciated Kevin’s willingness to take the time to explain the work so that I could understand what would be done. I will definitely use this company again.

Great service from Chesapeake Electric. I’ve tried other companies because they were less expensive but they came unprepared and charged for showing up that way. Kevin from Chesapeake Electric was on time, did the work, and cleaned up his work area afterwards. The other company left debris all around. Kevin was professional, experienced, and prepared. It wasn’t inexpensive but going for the low bid in the past ended up costing me more in the long run. I have confidence in this company and Kevin. I would highly recommend them.

Mike was great! Very friendly and personable. He came and diagnosed a complex electrical issue we were having with multiple rooms and outlets without power. He gave us a complimentary safety inspection and made some great recommendations to help ensure our home was up to code. He found some other wiring issues while making our repairs and ensured he cut out and replaced the damaged wiring. We will be reaching out again for future services to update our smoke detectors and install recessed lighting.
